Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect information when you use MakeQ and optional store connections. Last updated April 12, 2026.
At a glance
- MakeQ is production planning software. You can use it with an optional connection to your online store (including via Shopify).
- We collect account and security data, data you enter in MakeQ, and—if you connect a store—operational catalog and order-related data needed for planning.
- The current Shopify integration does not request protected customer data access; we do not use MakeQ to send buyer marketing email or print shipping labels from Shopify.
- We use service providers for hosting, database, email, and payments. We do not sell your personal information.
- For privacy requests: privacy@getmakeq.com.
Who we are
MakeQ (“we,” “us,” “our”) is operated from British Columbia, Canada, and getmakeq.com. We provide production planning software and an optional connection to your e-commerce platform. This policy applies to visitors to our website, registered users of the MakeQ application, and merchants who install or use integrations we offer (including the Shopify app).
If you have questions about how we handle personal information, contact us at privacy@getmakeq.com.
Shopify app and store data
If you install MakeQ from the Shopify App Store, the app connects your Shopify admin and your store’s data to the MakeQ web application. Installation uses Shopify’s standard OAuth flow; we only receive the permissions you approve.
Access we request from Shopify (read-only). We use Shopify’s Admin API with the following access scopes, in plain language:
- Products — read catalog and variant information so planning matches what you sell.
- Orders — read operational order information for production and purchasing planning. We do not request protected customer data access in the current product release.
- Fulfillments — read fulfillment information to reflect what has shipped or is in progress.
- Merchant-managed fulfillment orders — read fulfillment-order information where needed for timing and operational awareness.
Webhooks. We subscribe to Shopify webhooks so MakeQ can stay aligned with your store when relevant events occur, including:
app/uninstalledandapp/scopes_update- Order events:
orders/create,orders/updated,orders/cancelled - Fulfillment events:
fulfillments/create,fulfillments/update
Uninstall. If you uninstall the app, Shopify notifies us through mandatory webhooks; we disconnect the shop and delete or anonymize associated data as described under Retention below, subject to backups and legal requirements.
MakeQ is not limited to Shopify: core planning can exist without a connected store. When a store is connected, Shopify remains the source of storefront demand data; MakeQ is where you run internal planning and operations.
Information we collect
- Account and authentication. Name, email, password hash, and credentials you provide, including multi-factor authentication data where enabled.
- Service and security. Session identifiers, audit events, and technical logs needed to run the service and prevent abuse.
- Store connection. When you connect a store, shop identifiers, OAuth tokens, and data from the APIs and webhooks described above.
- Content you create. BOMs, items, planning records, purchasing notes, and other data you enter in MakeQ.
- Support. What you send when you contact us (email, forms).
- Billing. Payment details are processed by our payment provider (e.g. Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on MakeQ servers; the provider’s terms and privacy policy also apply.
How we use information
- Provide, operate, maintain, and secure the service
- Authenticate users and keep customer workspaces isolated
- Sync and display connected store data for production planning
- Process subscriptions and billing communications
- Respond to support requests and meet legal obligations
- Improve reliability and fix errors (including aggregated or de-identified analysis where appropriate)
Privacy rights by region
Your rights depend on where you live. You can contact privacy@getmakeq.com to exercise applicable rights. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Canada. Depending on your province or territory, you may have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) or comparable provincial private-sector privacy laws—including rights to access your personal information, challenge accuracy, and withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis.
United States. Residents of certain states (for example California under the CCPA/CPRA) may have the right to know categories of personal information collected, to request deletion subject to exceptions, and to opt out of “sale” or certain “sharing.” We do not sell personal information in the usual sense of those laws. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland. We may rely on contract (providing the service), legitimate interests (operating and securing MakeQ, balanced against your rights), legal obligation, or consent where required. You may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, or object, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Retention
We keep information as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When you disconnect a store or delete your account, we delete or anonymize associated personal information within a reasonable period, subject to backup cycles and legal holds. Some requests may require manual steps; contact privacy@getmakeq.com for help.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures suited to the data, including HTTPS, access controls, and secure handling of credentials. No online service is perfectly secure; use a strong password and multi-factor authentication when offered.
Your rights and requests
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, or export of your personal information, or object to or restrict certain processing. Email privacy@getmakeq.com. We respond within the time required by law where it applies.
Cross-border processing
We and our service providers may process and store information in more than one country (for example where cloud regions are located). If personal information crosses borders, we use safeguards required by applicable law, such as contractual clauses where appropriate.
